COMPASSION CULTIVATION: Moving Beyond Empathy Fatigue

Empathy is a necessary step on the path to connection with and compassion for others. Unfortunately, it’s also an easy place to become trapped. Empathy for the frustration, anxiety, depression, or grief of another can all too easily devolve into our own debilitating sense of sadness, emptiness, and helplessness. An ability to move through empathy into equanimity, loving-kindness, and most importantly compassion for others – and ourselves – is key to building resilience and avoiding burnout. Includes powerful research-based tools for compassion cultivation and stress management to support each of us in moving beyond empathy fatigue.

DEFINING MINDFULNESS AND REDUCING STRESS

Recent research demonstrates that stress needn’t always be harmful. Properly understood and managed, stress can make you smarter, stronger and more successful. It can help you learn and grow. It can even inspire courage and compassion. Course offers a survey of findings and tools from the latest neuroscience and clinical psychology to help you understand mindfulness and begin to manage stress.
